On December 8th, Zhang Xiaodong, Professor of philosophy department of Nanjing University, was invited to our college and gave an academic lecture entitled "shaping a true and beautiful self -- the aesthetics of young college students". The lecture was presided over by president Zhao Xicang. Wang Baoding, Secretary of the Party committee and President of Jiangsu People's publishing house, was invited as a special guest. Cui Jingui, President of Jiangsu university magazine house, Zhang Xiangfeng, director of the editorial department, Wu Liping, deputy secretary of the Party committee and vice president of our college, and more than 300 teachers and students attended the lecture.

 Zhang Xiaodong brought a simple and rich lecture to teachers and students. He said that beauty is the transcendental physical and mental pleasure produced by people in the process of grasping the world. Establishing a correct aesthetic outlook and forming a true and beautiful self are the internal needs of healthy growth, the foundation of social harmony and progress, and the necessity of human development and progress. He put forward that the true and beautiful self should include the beauty of image, performance, personality and realm. Scientifically guiding the correct aesthetic outlook is the "steering wheel", implementing the socialist education policy is the "safety valve", the way of self-cultivation is the "brake", and improving and strengthening ideological and political work is the "firewall".

 During the interaction, Zhang Xiaodong had in-depth exchanges with the young students. He accurately and vividly expounded the speculative aesthetic knowledge, which triggered a heated discussion on "beauty".

 Through this lecture, the majority of participating teachers and students have benefited a lot. In the future, all units of the college will actively carry out students' aesthetic education and constantly advocate to improve students' aesthetic quality and spiritual connotation in rich and colorful campus cultural activities.
